Dat betekent dat voetballers die in de hoogste Engelse voetbalcompetitie spelen beter op de kaart staan voor Engelse coaches en daarom bevooroordeeld worden\u201d, vertelt Jelle Kool mede-host van de FC Betting podcast.<\/p>\n<p>In de huidige selectie is dan ook de \u2018Premier League bias\u2019 goed terug te zien. Uit de cijfers van Transfermarkt.nl blijkt dat van de 24 spelers die zijn opgeroepen door bondscoach Gareth Southgate, 23 spelers in eigen land spelen. De enige voetballer die van buiten de Engelse landsgrenzen moest komen was middenvelder Jude Bellingham. Hij speelt in Duitsland bij Borrusia Dortmund. Als je deze cijfers naast bijvoorbeeld de Nederlandse en Franse selectie legt stijgt de Premier League ver boven iedereen uit. Bij het Nederlands elftal spelen acht spelers in de landelijke competitie en bij \u2018Les Bleus\u2019 staan zeven huidige selectiespelers onder contract in de Ligue 1. \u201cNatuurlijk is de Premier League \u00e9\u00e9n van de beste competities ter wereld, maar dat er bijna geen Engelsen in de andere competities spelen is toch echt vreemd\u201d, vertelt Kool.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/9212179\/<\/p>\n\n<p>Hoewel het lijkt alsof er bijna geen Engelse voetballers in het buitenland fungeren, zijn er toch genoeg voetballers die het avontuur aan durven gaan. Uit cijfers van Transfermarkt.nl blijkt dat er 492 Engelse voetballers zijn, die niet actief zijn in het eigen land. Hierbij gaat het wel over spelers die een transferwaarde hebben volgens Transfermarkt.nl en actief zijn in een competitie die bekend is bij de website. \u201cZelfs als je daarnaar kijkt zie je dat heel weinig voetballers van het Britse eiland vertrekken\u201d, concludeert voetbaltrainer Ayoub Salimi na het zien van de data.<\/p>\n<p>De voetbaltrainer doelt hiermee op de zes Engelse voetballers in Noord-Ierland, 93 in Schotland en 147 in Wales, die samen goed zijn voor 50% van de actieve Engelse voetballers in het buitenland. \u201cAls ik nadenk kan ik ook niet echt veel grote Engelse voetballers in het buitenland noemen buiten Tomori en Bellingham\u201d, aldus Salimi. Dit bevestigt de data ook. Want in de vier grote voetbalcompetities buiten de Premier League, zijnde de Bundesliga (Duitsland), La Liga (Spanje), Serie A (Itali\u00eb) en Ligue 1 (Frankrijk) zijn slechts vijftien spelers actief.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/9207039\/<\/p>\n<p>Engelse voetballer in Nederland George Cox liet eerder al eens aan de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voetbalprimeur.nl\/nieuws\/971185\/engelse-trend-doorbroken-steeds-meer-spelers-naar-het-buitenland-met-succes.html\">NOS weten<\/a> dat hij merkt dat steeds meer Engelsen naar het buitenland trekken. &#8220;In Engeland hebben ze een bepaalde houding wat betreft Engelse spelers, iets arrogants: je moet in Engeland spelen. Maar je ziet nu een trend. Meer spelers gaan naar het buitenland, en met succes. Mij bevalt het.\u201d Zelf voetbalde Cox op het vierde niveau in Engeland, bij Northampton. Hiermee was hij speler van \u00e9\u00e9n van de 89 profclubs die in Engeland spelen, maar of de trend die de verdediger voorschreef zal doorzetten is met het niet selecteren van Tomori te betwijfelen.
