Anime has become one of the largest online fantoms in the world. On Platforms like TikTok the hashtag, Anime, accumulated hundreds and billions of views, with fans sharing edits of their favourite characters, opinions one the latest shows and recommendations on what to watch next. Anime covers a huge range of genres, from romance to horror, but with such variety and audiences, how does the anime community still feel like one connected community?

In this report, Maryam visits a local anime club, speaks to a few of the members and co-organiser, Herman Wegter, to explore how anime fans connect with each other both online and in the real world.
