Goal 11.2: Sustainability on track – Utrecht Centraal leading the way

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in urban planning, especially in transport systems. Utrecht Centraal, the busiest railway station in the Netherlands, was recently ranked the third best railway station in Europe. With Utrecht aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030, the station and its infrastructure play an important role in promoting sustainable mobility.

Our reporter Anabel Giesbert visited the station and spoke with an expert on urban accessibility, Prof. Dick Etema, about the importance of a connected and reliable rail network for achieving sustainability.
