In 2023 over 59 million tonnes of food waste was generated in the EU. A Dutch initiative is trying to help reducing this number.

Have you ever seen a supermarket throwing food out in the dumpster, seen an unfinished meal go back to the restaurant – or done it yourself back home in your own kitchen. Then you are not alone, as food waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges that we face at the moment.
The United Nations is trying to put pressure on countries to reduce their food waste but is it possible in a world that is producing more food than needed – but the path is far from easy.
The program, “Taste Before You Waste”, is trying to educate their costumers and volunteers, with one specific goal in mind. Chairperson of the organisation, Wingston Sharon, says:
“It is all about reducing.”
