Sowing seeds for climate change

Climate change has long been linked to deforestation, but it turns out it is not a massive problem in the Netherlands. According to Marc Veekamp, member of IVN and project leader at Tiny Forest and Food Forest, efforts to combat this challenge have been initiated through tree-planting initiatives and NGOs. They are trying to instill a sense of environmental responsibility in children, from a very young age, teaching them how to value nature by actively participating in events. Therefore, protecting and restoring existing forests, as well as organizing numerous tree planting events, is far more effective in maintaining biodiversity and long-term carbon sequestration.
