After being trained in Argentina and Germany, Juliana Herrero is combining analogue and digital techniques in her work towards [Sur]realisation. She has been working in Vienna since 2006, opening the room for live performances of her art, which can be described as quite ethereal, evoking something that wants to be remembered. Born far from Vienna, her journey brought her into a new language, a new culture, and a need to reimagine home.
In her art, she weaves together what she left behind with what she’s still learning to call her own. As an immigrant, the artist carries with her the layered experience of living between cultures, and rather than seeing this in-betweenness as a limitation, she embraces it as a space for creativity, believing that differences are a source of richness and complexity. Through soundscapes, performances, and layered visual forms, she explores identity, memory, and the feeling of home. Juliana Herrero explores perception through the lens of transformation, often navigating the boundaries between inner and outer worlds, blurring the lines in a fluid, often playful way.
