During the Feminist Festival in Wageningen a group of female students organised for the first time a 5km run for women and gender minorities. ‘We started with around 75 applicants, and today – the day of the run – 132 women will join us’, says Anna Ravizza, one of the organisers of the Feminist Night Run Club. During the Feminist Festival week in Wageningen, women are the focuspoint. They still have to deal with inequalities in the workplace but also in their free time activities. ‘During sports we get cat-called, we get harassed. Playing sports isn’t as safe and equal as it is, in particular, for white men’, says Ravizza.
The run was the closing event of the Feminist Festival but Ravizza hopes to organize it again soon. ‘I don’t want to wait a whole year to run with these amazing women again.’
