Autocratic systems have at least one thing in common: the weaponisination of culture. Autocratic leaders ban and censor dissident opinions and voices through censoring culture. Books, films and art are forbidden and demonised.
The most recent example of this is Vladimir Putin, who just passed a law which bans foreign agent’s books.
