How does race affect Islam?

As an opening of the Ramadan evening meal (Iftar), religous teacher Nourdeen Wildeman talks about the meaning of fasting in Islam. The 41 year old teacher is a native Dutch who converted to Islam 17 years ago. Nourdeen means Light of the Religion, which he explains is his mission as a Muslim. As a teacher of basic knowledge of religion in the Ulo Mosque in Utrecht, he teaches his students about race in Islam. The question then is: how do you teach your students about race in Islam?
