On a busy Vienna street, a yellow Cabriolet is parked on the side. Its interior transformed into a garden of soil and thriving herbs. At sunset, coming back from his studio at WH university, Christoph Shwarz waters the plants. He doesn’t only nurture the plants, but also his quiet battle against a society rooted in capitalist structures and indifferent to climate justice.
Born in 1981 in Vienna, Christoph Shwarz started his artistic journey with filmmaking. Trained in media and conceptual art, his movies are auto-fictional experiments where he challenges capitalist myths with humor and contradiction. In Piggy Bank, his first feature film and mockumentary, he launches a money strike, and accidentally turns a profit. Somewhere between truth and fiction, his cinema doesn’t ask for belief, it invites doubts.
